After months of Vuze causing my computer to crash, I decided to go in search of a new BitTorrent Client. Apparently I was not alone, and am fairly late to discover the benefits of Transmission. However, for the benefit of anyone as out of the loop as I apparently have been, I highly recommend giving this lightweight client a try.

Finally the guilty party for "Acts of God" is almost held accountable...
How do you make the crazy crazier? Tell them they're wrong. A number of studies have shown that corrections to political misinformation helps further spread the belief in that same misinformation.
"Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip, commissioned a survey of over 500 economists to find out which candidate for President of the United States would be best for the economy long term."
It's Wednesday night, time for our weekly workout... or pill swallowing.
I wonder if the wasp feels dirty and used afterwards...
The first fully automated waiterless restaurant opens in Germany.
This guy is my hero... he owes a French museum 200,000 euro for using a normal, albeit autographed, urinal. His actions ask if the intended message of art is more important than the object itself. See extended for a link to other exciting art vandals.

A challenge for Wolf Wolf:
"...record an album in 29 days, just because you can.
That’s 10 songs or 35 minutes of original material recorded during the month of February. Go ahead… put it to tape."

"Biologists have created baker’s yeast capable of living to 800 in yeast years without apparent side effects. "
This is a pretty interesting article from Esquire about the life of Donn Pearce, the author of Cool Hand Luke. I'm not much of a fan of the journalist writing this piece but Donn Pearce sounds like a pretty exciting guy.
So I'm cruising the streets of J-Pan in my new vending machine skirt when all of a sudden this music comes out of nowhere...
Japan now has grooved roads that make driving musical. Perhaps the most annoying thing ever (See extended body for video). It would be an interesting way to control speed though, by grooving for songs that only sound good at a 65mph tempo.

"New federal legislation says universities must agree to provide not just deterrents but also "alternatives" to peer-to-peer piracy, such as paying monthly subscription fees to the music industry for their students, on penalty of losing all financial aid for their students."
We don't have a term for those who don't believe in ghosts, so why have one for those who don't believe in gods? As a group nonbelievers can be rhetorically attacked by believers, but when individuals who do not believe a claim criticize it based on reason, there is nothing left to be debated but reason itself.
This is an interesting paper that discusses the chances that what we take for reality is "really" just a computer simulation. The most interesting quote for me was the last line: "Unless we are now living in a simulation, our descendants will almost certainly never run an ancestor-simulation."
Yo... we all should go to this: Flaming lips/ Black Rebel Motorcycle Club...for free, downtown. Be there or suck!
A simple but fairly interesting article on how the study of Swarm Theory is influencing the management of complex human problems like traffic and truck routes.
There I lay, bleeding on the sands of Tikrit. All members of my squad are sprawled dead around me. I've given up all hope for survival. I cry and think of home... Then it appears, slowly gliding across the dirt and rubble, a long forgotten image of a singing teddy bear I had loved as a child. Oh sweet, sweet reassuring face! I am saved!

Alberto Gonzales, our beloved Attorney General, is putting forward a new bill that will make attempted piracy a punishable crime.
