Hunter S. Thompson: Rare Articles
Since I haven't posted anything in a while and since Carl won't post this until at least 2015... here's a link to some old and rare HST articles Carl sent me a while ago. There's some good stuff here, I particularly enjoyed the two on Big Sur and the one about L.A.

2010 Marriage Protection Act
Safeguarding marriage from the evils of divorce.

Taking the next logical step from the marriage protection "victory" procured by 2008's Prop 8, this organization is looking to protect marriage once and for all..... by making sure you can't get out of it!

You said “Til death do us part.” You’re not dead yet.

I Met the Walrus
In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace.

38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation.

Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message.

In the six-minute animated film which John Lennon talks about global conflict and the need for peace has caught the imagination of Hollywood.

Google meets Earth meets Flicker for an Awesome Threesome
A cool improvement on the already pigged flicker site that allows you to view peoples pictures from around the world. This is basically the same thing, except its linked with Google Earth which allows you to click on any country and see random flicker pics from that country only. North Korea is conspicuously missing.

Way better than a nipple!
"Arizona fans tuning in for the climax of American football season get 30-second view of Club Jenna cable channel."

Once the pictures from the Super Bowl returned, Cardinals fans did not get the climax they were looking for.

Comcast Trying to Cap Internet Usage
Here's a link to the story posted on the Grandview industry news site. Basically, Comcast is battling the FCC over whether or not it has the right to limit how much data its users can download each month. If Comcast wins it could set a precedent that effects the entire industry, and our individual freedom on the net.

US Spies to use Social Networking Site as Tool
On September 22nd all 16 national intelligence agencies will be able to share information using a social networking site, called A-Space. Sounds like a great idea as long as it is secure from hackers and the office of the Vice President. No word on why they chose such a lame name.

Instead of posting thoughts about the new Avenged Sevenfold album or Jessica Alba movie, CIA analysts could use A-Space to share information and opinion about al Qaeda movements in the Middle East or Russian naval maneuvers in the Black Sea.

2057 - The Discovery Channel Series
If you haven't seen this show yet, its worth checking out. The story line is a bit cheesy but the technology they're discussing rocks! I've only linked to one show, but they're all available online.

Educational video about what scientists and technology developers have accomplish and plan to have accomplished by 2057. Hosted by Michio Kaku.

6.6 degrees of seperation
A new study concludes that people around the world (at least on msn messanger) are separated by an average of 6.6 degrees of each other. Whats really trippy about this is that 6.6 is equal to Pi*Phi + 1.02!!! (ok maybe I'm stretching the importance a little bit)

Gore's Plan to Save the Planet
A Time article investigating Gore's 10 year plan to transform the U.S. to a 100% renewable energy society.

I think its an interesting article, though somewhat pessimistic. If the scientists the author refers to and Gore are right, that we have about 10 years to reverse what we're doing to the planet before its to late...than what do we have to lose in trying to meet this 10 year deadline? Even if it doesn't seem currently achievable.
