Dontevenreply.com
Joke responses to craigslist ads, most of which are pretty hilarious!

Now fixed so that I didn't forget the link.

No more spending limits for political campaigns
In a decision today, the US Supreme Court overturned previous bans on campaign funding by private organizations (i.e. corporations), stating that corporations were entitled to the same first amendment rights as individuals.

Great animated films from around the world
I recently discovered a youtube channel which features obscure animated films, most of them from other countries. Some are classics, some I've never heard of, but I've watched about half of them and so far most are excellent!

Spike Jonze Skateboarding Videos
Some old skateboarding videos directed by Spike Jonze, the director of "Being John Malkovich" and the upcoming "Where The Wild Things Are."

Derren Brown's
Derren Brown is a magician who, in this special, uses classic stage techniques ("suggestion, psychology, misdirection, and showmanship") to examine various US belief structures and the naivete they run on. He's an outspoken atheist who has worked with Richard Dawkins and has a huge list of other TV specials, all of which sound just as clever as this one. Link is to first part of video (embedding is, sadly, disabled).

Magneto!
Clips from the old (and absolutely awful) "Fantastic Four" TV cartoon, in which Magneto appears. In the first clips he's an arrogant asshole, in the second a borderline retard.

Superheroes, as organized by religious affiliation
Proof that comic book fans have far too much time on their hands.

Armed With Wings 2
One of the neatest Flash games I have ever seen. And a one-man job!

Music Video by Jean-Pierre Jeunet
I've just discovered that the fantastic director of "Delicatessen" and "Amelie" had earlier done a very cool music video for the Jean Michel Jarre song "Zoolook" (which I also love).

Create your own electoral map
An interesting, simple program from the LA times, allowing us politically-minded folks to experiment with possible outcomes in the upcoming presidential election.

+2
To Play Us Out
A young Bill O'Reilly demonstrates the level-headed intellect which helped him become one of our country's top political commentators.

Home Shopping Network Screw-ups
A cracked.com collection of some very funny mistakes which went out live on the home shopping network. Most involve some form of injury.

The Truth Behind: The Truth Behind 9/11
An entertaining and well-written article by David Wong, on why the conspiracy theorists behind such products as "Loose Change" are liars and/or idiots.

Garfield Minus Garfield
In keeping with the "strange variations on Garfield comics" theme, here is a site where all characters except Jon have been digitally removed from the strip.

Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.

Nicholson endorses Clinton
Jack Nicholson put together a video of his own movie clips, apparently telling us about why we need Hillary Clinton as our next president

RPM Challenge Completed!
My submissions to the 2008 RPM challenge. One track features famous guest saxophonist Youness Scally!

Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden
Somebody used an RPG-maker engine to create an epic fantasy, sci-fi sequel to Charles Barkley's old "Shut Up and Jam" Sega game. Ridiculous yet amusing.

Rap Lyrics explained using charts
A website using charts to explain rap lyrics.

"Rap lyrics can now be explained through the use of charts."

Manhattan of the Desert
Some images I've collected of Shibam, a Yemenese city which, due to the unique vertical nature of its ancient buildings, is considered by many architecture enthusiasts to be one of the earliest examples of skyscraper construction.

The houses of Shibam are all made out of mud bricks, but about 500 of them are tower houses, which rise 5 to 9 stories high. This technique of building was implenented in order to protect residents from Bedouin attacks.

Blue Man
All he needs now is a Group.

The condition he has is called argyria, and NBC’s chief medical editor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, said it’s caused by the silver that Karason used to treat his dermatitis and has been drinking in a liquid form called colloidal silver on and off for some 14 years.

This is just stupid:
Apparently, Hillary Clinton had some kind of big contest to decide her official campaign song. Here's a rather mind-numbing commercial she made to promote it, featuring Bill and apparently paying homage to the final episode of "The Sopranos."

Merry Christmas from Johnny Cash and friends!
Featuring June Carter, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and a bunch of people I don't recognize.

Merry Christmas from the Kinks!
Not one of their best songs, but I do like the lyrics.

+1
Merry Christmas from Run-DMC!
An old-school hip hop celebration!

+1
Merry Christmas from Endor!
Starring R2-D2, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leaia, and Han Solo (who looks pretty embarrassed to be there).
