Armed With Wings 2
One of the neatest Flash games I have ever seen. And a one-man job!

And before anyone asks - yes, I tried out "Armed With Wings 1," but it wasn't as impressive. It had the same cool visual style but much less polished, and instead of doing cool things while jumping (or, instead of jumping at all) all you could do was throw a bird. But then, I only played the first level, so maybe some other elements were introduced later...

And yeah, the cutscenes kind of suck, so skip those.

I played through six levels of this game and came back here to post that the visual style is cool but the gameplay sucks. Then I re-read your commentary and realized that you posted a link to Armed With Wings 1 instead.

Here's the link for Armed With Wings 2, which I am about to go try:

Ha. Well, dumb move on my part, then. Fixed now.

Yeah, the original game was pretty stupid. The sequel isn't a phenomenal breakthrough in game design or anything, just surprisingly well put together. Unique art style, great animation (except, I noted, during the cutscenes, some of which are just awful), and fluid controls. I was surprised when I later played the first game and found it completely lacking a jump command, as the jumping struck me as one of the best elements in the sequel. Platform games with bad jumping are a personal pet peeve of mine, but platform games with NO jumping seem to be missing the whole point.

I love the graphic style, but I wasn't too thrilled with the gameplay. He made the animation very smooth, but at the cost of making the controls unresponsive. Once you start to execute a move, whether it's an attack, block, or just walking forward, it feels like you lose control of the player until the animation for that move is done.

Cool art style though, and definitely better than the original.

I agree with Bob, I don't really like the 'feel' of the controls. I've played lots of side-scrollers and this one is just clunky to use. On top of that, who doesn't use for jump???

I like survival mode, the top score is over 12k, unfuckin believable!

It is a great concept, the art is simple yet effective, I would like to see more detail but it works.
I do wish the controls were a bit better tho, I particularly don't care for the jump control, you have to stop running to jump slowing down agility, but the attacks are great, and the walk cycle is delightful as long as you stay on level ground...
