Sam Harris on Why
We don't have a term for those who don't believe in ghosts, so why have one for those who don't believe in gods? As a group nonbelievers can be rhetorically attacked by believers, but when individuals who do not believe a claim criticize it based on reason, there is nothing left to be debated but reason itself.

He's all over the place but it's a very interesting speech throughout. He's got a good point about not self-labeling, and his section on the pluses of contemplativism is pretty good too.
