If you tie enough helium balloons together you can lift pretty much anything. Including yourself, apparently.
The guy who originally did this on his lawnchair in 1982 was Larry Walters. He reached a height of over 16,000 feet, eventually got tangled in some powerlines, and got fined $4k by the FAA.
